Moody: A Bad Boy Sports Romance Page 7
His expression tightens, lust flaring in his eyes. He cups my chin for a brief moment, gazing into my eyes as if searching for something. He seems content with whatever he finds, because the next thing I know, I’m being pulled down the hallway, a trail of discarded clothes following us.
There’s no thought. Just wild, hungry touches and kisses. I all but climb him to get closer. He lifts me, forcing my legs around his hips, his cock wedged between us. One large hand is on my ass, the other cups the back of my head, deepening our kiss.
“You have no idea how hard it was to stay away,” he growls against my lips. “I can’t do it anymore.”
“Then don’t,” I pant.
I’m braced against the wall, thighs wrapped around his powerful hips, fingers tangling in his thick brown hair that now hangs around his face in tousled waves.
“I need to get you to bed before I end up fucking you against the wall.” His voice is rough, sexy, filled with the same hungry desperation I feel.
I groan at the image, wiggling against the thick erection that throbs between us. “Would that be such a bad thing?”
He slaps my ass playfully and grins. “I promise one day I’ll take you against every wall of this apartment, but I’ve been waiting too damn long for this, and I plan on taking my time tonight.”
I can’t help the moan that escapes my lips at his promise.
In the bedroom, he lays me down on the bed. He grips my hands above my head, and begins a slow, aching trail of kisses across my jaw, down my neck, pausing over one breast, then drawing the hard nub into his mouth.
The sensation, fiery heat, aching pleasure travels down to my core in pulsating waves. I struggle slightly against his hold, wanting to touch him, but he looks up at me through thick lashes and grins.
“Not yet.” One powerful hand slides down my stomach, between my thighs, and cupping my sex. “I want to touch you first.” A finger slips inside of me and I moan. “Taste you.” He licks my nipple, then rakes his teeth across it. “Hear you beg to have me fill you.”
“You’re a tease,” I whimper.
He chuckles, and his thumb rasps against my clit as a second finger presses inside my opening, stretching me.
God, but it feels so good.
I arch my hips and his fingers slide deeper, slick with my wetness.
“I want you. Inside of me. Please.”
Suddenly he stills above me, and I see him wince. “I don’t have a condom.”
“There’s some in the bedside drawer.”
He hovers over me and his expression clouds slightly, jaw tensing.
“What?” I can feel his sudden tension.
“Nothing.” He exhales slowly, then brushes his lips against mine. Rolling on his side, he opens the drawer and pulls out the open box of condoms.
It’s a box of twelve, and I know there’s only two missing, but I can see his mood change as he takes inventory.
“Two.” I pull the comforter over me, feeling suddenly guarded.
He looks at me, eyes narrowed. “What?”
“That’s the number of condoms missing, and it’s the number of people I’ve slept with since…you.”
Silence stretches between us, before he turns back to me.
“It should have been zero.” His nostrils flare.
Anger that I’ve been holding onto sizzles to the surface.
“So I should have joined a nunnery while you were off screwing half the town?”
“That’s not what I meant.” He lunges for me when I start to roll away, trapping me under his weight. Gaze hard, he stares down at me. “It’s my fault we wasted all these years. But no, I’m not fucking thrilled about the thought of someone else touching you.”
“You’re jealous?” That I can evoke that kind of reaction from him, justified or not, does something to me.
“Damn right I am.” He uses his thigh to spread my legs apart, moving between them. “And I’m going to give you so much pleasure that every memory of any other man’s touch is permanently wiped from your brain.”
“And what about your memories?” I pout up at him, knowing there have been far more women in his life than the men in mine.
“Now who’s jealous?” He grins, then lowers his head and nips at my earlobe. “Trust me sweetheart, there’s no other woman I want. No one else who will ever fill the emptiness inside me.”
I want to believe him.
And part of me does.
God knows I’ll regret it. But the dark look of lust, the heaviness of his cock pressed against my leg, leaves me breathless, wanting, and ready to give up my sanity for more of his touch.
Not wanting to think of anyone but him, I pull him down, forcing a kiss that will erase the memories of years watching him from a distance, hearing the rumors of the women he’d been with.
For tonight, he’s mine. That’s all that matters.
A low growl leaves his lips, and his head dips lower, tongue rasping against my skin as it trails down, until he’s positioned between my thighs.
“I’ve dreamed about tasting you again.” His voice vibrates against my clit, sending shockwaves of sensations through my core.
I gasp as his tongue licks against the sensitive slit, making my hips jerk up to meet him.
“Just as good as I remembered,” he hums, one finger joining his tongue and thrusting inside me.
I whither beneath him, straining towards the pleasure building within, body tightening to what I’m certain is my breaking point.
“Stop,” I whimper. “I’m going to come.”
He chuckles against me, swirling his tongue over my clit, before saying, “Sweetheart, I’m going to make you come now, and then again when my cock is buried deep inside of you.”
I’ve forgotten what it’s like to have multiple orgasms. It only happened once, with him, all those years ago.
His mouth practically devours me, tongue stroking, pushing me higher, until I finally give in to the pleasure and fall over the edge of oblivion.
My body is still vibrating with the aftershocks when he crawls above me, ripping the foil wrapper with his teeth.
I watch him, breathless, as he rolls the condom over his straining cock, fingers wrapping around the heavy shaft.
“I want you inside of me.” The waiting is torture. “Now.”
His deep, guttural groan fills the room.
He grips my hips, shifting between them. His hands are hard, firm and I can feel the barely restrained need coursing through him.
The broad head of his cock rests between my thighs, nudged at my entrance, but for a long moment, he just watches me, dark eyes hooded.
“What are you waiting for?”
His lips quirk slightly. “Demanding, aren’t you?”
Slowly, he pushes inside of me, the thick width of him stretching and filling me. He lowers his forehead to mine, going deeper until I swear I can’t take anymore.
“God, Izzy.” His muscles ripple and tense.
A whimper tears from my throat when he gives one final thrust, impaling every beautiful inch of himself inside of me.
“Look at me, sweetheart.” The command in his voice makes me shiver, and when I open my eyes and gaze up into his, I know I should have kept them closed.
Emotions build within me, merging with the physical pleasure, drawing me into him as if he’s the very air that I breathe.
He starts to move, hips rising and thrusting, gaze trained on me, heavy with lust and so much more.
His movements become harder, faster, and I move with him, finding our rhythm.
One of his hands grips the headboard, making his biceps flex and ripple.
I dig my fingernails into his shoulders, and wrap my legs around his hips, taking everything he’s giving me. Shaking, trembling, clenching onto him, my body molds to his like it was made just for him.
Dazed, and yet more awake then I’ve ever been, I lose all control. I barely recognize the sounds of pleasure that erupts from the primal place
within me.
I’m crying out, my orgasm taking on a life of its own as it races through me, tightening my muscles, clenching my core, leaving me shuddering and trembling beneath him.
I can feel him coming the same moment I do. And he lets out a rumbled growl just before he collapses on top of me.
His mouth rests against my ear, breathing harsh and unsteady. “I don’t want to move.”
“Then don’t.”
“I need to get rid of the condom.” He lifts up slightly, kissing my nose before moving off of the bed and disappearing into the bathroom.
Moments later, he returns, pulling back the comforter and climbing back into bed with me.
I freeze when he pulls me into his arms, my back against his chest, large arms circling me. I hadn’t expected him to stay.
He brushes my hair over my shoulder and rests his lips against the exposed skin.
Fear of what tomorrow will bring swirls on the edge of my subconscious. But the warmth of his body, the strength of his arms wrapped around me, hold it back. All I can do is melt into the haze of sleep, hoping that when I wake up it will be to a dream and not a nightmare.
Chapter 16
Moody
God, she makes my chest hurt, makes me feel so many things. Things I’ve never felt for another person. There’s a wholeness being with her. The missing piece of my soul.
I hold her close, cradling her small frame against me and listening to her soft, even breaths.
She mumbles softly in her sleep, stretching beneath the blankets, a small smile curving her lips.
Damn, but the woman is perfect. And now that I have her, there’s no way in hell I’m going to let her go.
I’m just about to doze off when a pounding on the door makes us both jump.
Fuck. I glance at the clock beside the bed. It’s after midnight.
Blue eyes wide and still dazed from sleep, Izzy pushes out of my arms and rolls from the bed, grabbing her discarded clothes.
“Shit.” Panic draws her face tight.
“Izzy, open up. I need to talk to you.” More pounding.
“It’s Griffin.” She pulls her shirt over her head, struggling when her arm gets caught in the sleeve.
“I’ll deal with him.” Picking up my jeans, I shuffle into them, then glance around for my t-shirt.
She steps in front of me, placing her hand on my chest. “He can’t know you’re here. He’ll think–”
“He’ll think what?” I study her face and wince at the fear I see. “He’s going to find out eventually.”
“He doesn’t have to,” she says, grabbing my arm when I start down the hall. “Just…go back to the bedroom. Let me talk to him.”
Her comment shouldn’t bother me the way it does. But it pisses me off.
“I’m not hiding.” My voice comes out as a low growl.
Her cheeks redden and she looks over at the door, worry flashing in her eyes. “I just don’t want him to get the wrong idea.”
“Sorry to break it to you sweetheart, but this thing between us isn’t going away. Better to rip the proverbial bandage off now rather than later.” Plus, after what happened, I’m not letting her deal with him alone.
“Don’t do this. Not now. He’s got a key, and–”
Suddenly the door bursts open and Griffin stumbles into the apartment. Face red, eyes glassed over, it’s clear he’s been drinking.
“I need to talk to–” Griffin stops abruptly when he sees me. His gaze travels down my bare chest, and his eyes widen.
He’s charging me before I even have time to blink.
“Griffin, stop,” Izzy screams.
I block his first few punches, but he keeps coming at me, swinging wildly.
“I’ll kill you, you son of a bitch.” He gets a lucky shot in, clipping my temple, and I stumble backwards.
“It’s not what you think.” I rub my jaw, holding my other hand out to ward him off.
“So you’re not screwing my sister?”
“Yes, but–”
Another shot lands, snapping my head back. If he was anyone else, the guy would be dead by now. Lucky for him, I actually like the bastard.
I shove his chest, knocking him backwards, but he comes back swinging.
“For god sakes, Griff. Stop it. I don’t want to hurt you.” And I won’t. It doesn’t matter how many shots he takes, I won’t hit him back. “Just stop for a fucking second and listen to me.”
“And listen to more of your lies?”
Izzy is between us, shielding me with her body. “Enough.”
“Christ, Izzy.” Griffin heaves, chest rising and falling heavily. “This is who you threw away your future for? This piece of trash.”
Her shoulders tense, and when she speaks, her voice is low, dangerous. “It’s not my future you’re worried about. Is it? What were your plans? To use me as leverage, like some type of whore you can pimp.”
Griffin’s face pales, then he looks at me accusingly. “You told her?”
“Yeah, he told me.” Izzy moves towards him, pointing a finger at his chest. “Told me how you’re willing to pawn me off like a piece of meat to pay off your debt. I want you out of my apartment. Out of my life.”
Pain flashes quickly across his face, replaced by anger, and something stronger – terror.
“Jason was right.” Griffin stumbles backwards as if she slapped him. “You were messing around on him all along. I don’t need to treat you like a whore, because you already are one.”
Color drains from Izzy’s face and she clamps her lips around a small gasp.
“Watch yourself,” I growl, taking a step towards him. He may be drunk, but there’s only so much I’ll let him get away with.
“You’re wrong, Griffin.” Her words are laced with ice. “But right now, I really don’t care what you think.”
“It’s a death sentence.” His voice rises an octave. “If I don’t pay back the money, his men will come after me.”
A small suffering breath comes from Izzy, but her eyes are blue steel. “Then go to the police.”
“His family owns the police.” Griffin looks at me, eyes now pleading. “Tell her. You know what he’s capable of. I wouldn’t be in this mess if it wasn’t for you.”
“You made the choice to fight,” Izzy says, defending me. “That’s on you. No one else. You’ve said so yourself.”
Griffin chuckles darkly, lips curling over his teeth like a rabid animal. “But there’s a whole other side to the story you haven’t heard. Your boy isn’t as innocent as he wants us all to think.” His gaze rests on me. “Are you?”
His tone causes a cold chill to run down my spine and my heart sinks in my chest. He knows.
When I don’t respond, Griffin takes a threatening step towards me.
“Jason let me in on a little secret.” His jaw tenses, and I see the betrayal in his eyes and it makes my stomach twist.
“What are you talking about?” Izzy glanced between us, brows drawn down.
“Tell her, or I will.”
I open my mouth, but the words stick in my throat.
“Tell her,” Griffin hollers.
“I never meant for you to get hurt. You know that. Jason was running deals, when he approached me before the fight, I thought it would be an easy few bucks.”
“You made a deal with Jason?” Brows furrowed, Izzy frowns.
“Your fiancé…sorry, ex fiancé,” Griffin spits the words. “Offered him a little bonus if he knocked me out in the first round.” His eyes narrow on me. “That wouldn’t be so bad if we hadn’t agreed to go easy, to draw it out to the fifth. I wasn’t prepared for the wild shots he threw.”
There’s nothing I can say, because the accusations are true. I never dreamed that one decision would take such a devastating turn.
“How much?” Griffin demands. “How much did he offer you? What was my life worth?”
“I didn’t mean–”
“How much?”
“Ten grand,
” I mutter pathetically.
“Ten fucking grand. I hope you spent it well.”
I had. I’d used the money to help pay off his medical expenses. Not that it went far.
“That’s enough.” Izzy runs her hands over her face, then through her hair. “You know as well as I do that Moody never meant to hurt you.”
“Right,” Griffin says sarcastically. “That’s why he all but disappeared afterwards. You know what I would have liked? For my best friend, the guy who put me in the damn hospital to show up, just fucking once, to visit me. Three months I was stuck in that damn place, and you didn’t bother to come. And I still made every fucking excuse for you.”
The air in the room feels heavy, the weight suffocating.
“You’re right. I was a coward. I couldn’t face you. Face what I’d done.” I glance down at my hands, then back up at Izzy. “To either of you. I’m sorry.”
Silence stretches between us, then I hear Griffin’s sharp intake of breath.
“It was you?” Eyes wide, he looks between Izzy and I. “You’re kidding me right? He’s the one that got you knocked up?”
“Griffin.” Panic flares in her eyes and her cheeks burn red.
“It’s true, isn’t it?” Griffin’s lips curl in disgust, then rage when he looks at me. “So let me get this straight. While I was in the hospital, fighting for my life, you were sneaking behind my back, screwing my sister.”
“It wasn’t like that. You need to listen to me. I love–”
His fist slams into my face silencing my confession.
Izzy lets out a loud shriek, and once again she places herself in front of me. For a terrifying second I think Griffin is going to hit her.
His fist pulls back and he curses violently. “You’re going to defend him after everything he’s done? You’re going to choose him over your own brother?”
“I shouldn’t have to choose. He’s your best friend.”
“Was my best friend,” he spits out through clenched teeth. There’s murder in his gaze and tension rolling off him in waves. “I’m done. With both of you.”
The door slams behind him, and I see Izzy flinch, but it’s the resignation in her eyes when she looks at me that has my gut clenching.
